Electric Vehicle Sales Continue to Grow in Colorado

Electric vehicle sales continue to grow year-after-year in Colorado according to new government data.

“A higher and higher percentage of sales year after year after year is what we need to get to our goals, and that’s what we expect to happen,” said Aaron Kressig, transportation electrification manager for the nonprofit environmental analysis group Western Resource Advocates.

While there are some discrepancies between electric vehicle sales data gathered by the Colorado government and the Colorado Auto Dealers Association, the sales numbers are encouraging.

The goal is to see 940,000 electric vehicles on the roads by 2030 in the State. Right now, there is a reported 49,000 EV’s on the roads in Colorado.

There is some concern that the environmental and health benefits of electric vehicles are being offset by the continued popularity of SUV’s and other off-road capable vehicles. However, analysts expect this impact to be reduced in the coming years as more and more electric SUV’s and trucks come into the market.
